Do you LACK?

For those of you who don't speak Ikea language fluently, LACK is a shelving system from Ikea and one of my favorite concealed mounting hardware wall shelf. The love affair started 10 years ago and I still love this shelving system : because of its concealed hardware mounting system, LACK shelves become part of the wall. I like the timeless, minimalist and space saving features it offers. And at less than $30 [for the longest 74" long model], it's a pretty unbeatable deal, which me likey too! ;-)
Here is a selection of interiors that use this shelf in an original way, from the kitchenware display shelving to the console on the back of a sofa. So, do you LACK?

  7. they look sleek! i love them, (the sculpture is genial!) but to be honest, i actually don't trust them... :P i haven't seen any that would not tilt slightly downwards... don't you have this problem with them?
thus, i only got a LACK low table, that i love a lot.

  8. @Agnes: I hear you, but here is what 10 years of experience in LACK tells you : first, there's a max limit weight no tot exceed - and when I exceeded, it tilted. Second, it greatly depends on the wall anchors you use (wrong anchor will not give you a stable base, hence LACK will tilt) and third, when you move, you're better off buying a new shelf than trying to reuse one, like any other Ikea piece, they don't like to be unmounted and remounted. Man... I sound like an Ikea associate, don't I? :-P

  11. They are a brilliant design solution, although I do agree with your comments about the weight limit and the tilting.

  18. Great pictures, but most of the ones with books, kitchenware and other heavy items on them are suspect at best. These shelves do not support a lot of weight. They will droop down if weight limit is exceeded. So the pictures are great as advertizing, but not as real life situation. I've had these for a long time and as long as I keep some photographs on them they are fine, but put a few books on them and they are done for. Waste of space in my opinion. They do look good if you need them to just take up wall space and contain knock knacks, but as for storing anything substantial on them, forget it. Cheap, though, as most IKEA things are.
